Visual Language

An A2 poster that study how images should become a form of language on its own.

The world provides us a near to infinite level of input which requires the constant and unrelenting sights, sounds, smells and sensations. More than half of our brains is dedicated to the processing of visual input. Pure text and only the numbers simply cannot convey information as memorable or digestible as compared to successful visual based storytelling.

Using visuals as a tool of communication is not a new idea anymore. Almost every culture now make use of visuals as a way of communicating ideas and providing better understanding. We have become so farmiliar with some of these methods in our own culture that we don’t think of them as visual storytelling anymore. These include road signs, signs of the zodiac, religious sculptures and etc. In recent years, there has been a tremendous increase in the use of visuals to present ideas and facts. Hence, will the graphic design method becomes a universal language?
